BACKGROUND
As of 2019, the US Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported that 26% of the workers in the overall transportation sector were 55 or older. Additionally, the Pew Group reported in 2010 that 10,000 people would turn 65 every day in the USA and this rate would continue until 2030 at which point, more than 25% of the US population will be 65 or older.
It is incumbent upon all stake holders in maritime/transportation to play an active part in the attraction and development of young people into the industry. The International Propeller Club is proud to present this timely webinar on this important topic. We are excited to bring together a dedicated group of maritime workforce education professionals to talk about their individual programs and to provide ideas and direction for companies and education institutions across the US to get involved. Fortunately, there are successful established maritime pathway programs in the US from which others can model similar initiatives in their respective areas and we will hear from them in this webinar.
